Toilet
Toilets tend to be used more frequently than any other home plumbing device. Most residential buildings have more than one toilet. Because of their recurrent use, toilets are likely to run into some problems that will require quick solutions. Our professional Houston Texas Plumbers are ready to help you repair the toilet by means of useful 'how-to' tips or, alternatively, through our on-site plumbing services.
You might find it useful to know the various parts of your toilet, and how it operates. The toilet handle pulls a chain inside the tank when pushed, which in turn opens the flush valve. When the valve floats away, a small hole is opened; two gallons of water rush through this hole into the toilet bowl. After the tank empties, the flush valve moves back into position at the bottom of the tank.
Both water and waste matter are sucked down the drain by the fast moving, large amount of water that activates the siphon in the bowl. A decrease in the water level of the tank concurs with a fall of the filler float. The refill valve is opened as the float drops. Water flows through the refill valve and fills the tank and bowl. As the tank is refilled, the float rises with the water. When the water reaches the required level, the refill valve closes. If the refill valve malfunctions and stays open, the overflow tube located inside the tank should prevent flooding.
These different mechanisms operate simultaneously to keep your toilet operating smoothly and properly.

Plumber Expert Tip
Keep in mind that you should not use your toilet as a trash can. Do not flush anything that will not dissolve in water.
Many things are apt to go wrong with your toilet. Clogging, leaking, and overflowing are all unpleasant but typical toilet malfunctions. Your Houston Texas Plumber will be happy to help with any of these predicaments, whether he makes a house call to repair it himself, or even if he just gives you step-by-step instructions that allow you to take care of the repairs yourself.
Taking a few basic measures will allow you to remove and install your own toilets. First, turn the shutoff valve by the toilet in order to disconnect the water supply. Pull the waterline from the tank. You will need to attach a new waterline to your new tank later on. Avoid a nasty mess by emptying your old tank and bowl BEFORE you move them. Remove any current bolts and nuts using a wrench, and then fasten the new ones to the corresponding toilet pieces.
